Georgia’s seventh-largest financial institution adds Atlanta Metro president for ‘strategic restructure’


United Community Bank has named veteran banker Doug Higgins as its new Atlanta Metro president as part of a "strategic restructure" of its community banking leadership.

United Community Banks Inc. (NASDAQ: UCBI) said Monday this is a new role in the organization, and Higgins will be responsible for building on the bank's local and regional foundation, which consists of nearly 30 branches across Atlanta area and nearly 150 branches in the Southeast.
