Google boosts water-needy farmers in Oregon


Google, which has a significant presence in north-central Oregon, has issued a grant that could help farmers manage ever-scant water access in the West.

The Farmers Conservation Alliance will use the $120,000 to "update inefficient water irrigation systems that serve more than 35,000 farmers and ranchers" in the region. The Alliance will use the money to hone its data management systems so that rural communities can better track water usage.
