Henrietta Lacks family, Thermo Fisher settle lawsuit over ‘immortal’ HeLa cell line


Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has settled a lawsuit with the family of Henrietta Lacks, the Black woman whose cells — taken without her knowledge during cervical cancer treatments — have been used in unquantifiable scientific research, but whose family has never been compensated.
