Home sales fall, prices rise in August in Albany region


Sales of new and existing homes fell 2 percent in August in the Albany region while prices rose, according to preliminary data from the Greater Capital Association of Realtors.

Overall inventory continued to decrease, though new home construction is up 6 percent year-to-date.

The data is based on sales through the Eastern New York Multiple Listing Service Inc.

The average sale price increased 3 percent, to $251,775.

The median sale price increased 4 percent, to $223,950.
