Ikea cancels plans for second store in North Carolina


It's been almost a year to the day since Swedish furniture giant Ikea announced plans to open a store at Cary Towne Center — its second in the Carolinas after arriving in Charlotte almost a decade ago. Now, the town says the retailer is no longer coming.

In a statement posted on the town of Cary’s website, Town Manager Sean Stegall said Ikea has decided not to make the move because of its "evolving business model."
