Insurer will buy prominent downtown Lawrence building


A large Kansas insurance company will buy the soon-to-be-former offices of The Lawrence Journal-World.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas has a deal to buy the newspaper offices at 645 New Hampshire St., The Journal-World reports. The deal does not include the newspaper’s print plant on the north end of the block.

While the office could accommodate hundreds of Blue Cross employees, the insurer plans to use the building for flex office space and meetings — taking advantage of the location midway…
