Investor calls for McDonald’s to improve treatment of chickens


An institutional investor in McDonald’s Corp. is scrutinizing the fast food giant for the “potential financial and reputational risks" associated with its treatment of chickens.

In a letter addressed to McDonald's Chairman Enrique Hernandez Jr. and CEO Stephen Easterbrook, New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli — a trustee of the New York State Common Retirement Fund — advised the company to adopt precise standards for chicken welfare.
