Kansas native wins 2022 European Patent Office Young Inventors Prize


Lenexa native Erin Smith, who invented an app that can help diagnose Parkinson's Disease while still an area high school student, won a big international prize for young inventors.

Smith received the European Patent Office's 2022 Young Inventors Prize on June 21 for her FacePrint app. The 22 year old was one of two first-place winners in the inaugural competition for innovators under the age of 30. The prize comes with a cash prize of approximately $21,000.
