Key Oregon housing leader departs government job for nonprofit


Margaret Salazar, northwest regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is leaving her long career in government to head up the nonprofit Reach Community Development.

Reach is among the best-known affordable-housing developers in Portland, Oregon. Salazar, who was raised in Hood River, Oregon, but has a career that has taken her from San Francisco to Washington, D.C., has long been in either state or federal housing jobs.
