Kroger to buy Albertsons for nearly $25B


The nation's two largest U.S. operators of traditional supermarkets plan to combine. When news of the deal first emerged, analysts had questioned whether a merger of a Kroger-Albertsons merger would receive regulatory approval due to antitrust concerns. But the plans to divest some stores could alleviate that concern.
