Lava flow threatens to isolate residents near Highway 132 on Hawaii’s Big Island


Big Island residents in the Kapoho area were advised to evacuate on Wednesday morning as lava from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano is advancing toward the area, potentially isolating residents.

"Residents in the Kapoho area including Kapoho Beach Lots and Vacationland are advised to evacuate," Hawaii County Civil Defense said in a message at 6 a.m. HST on Wednesday. "You are at risk of being isolated due to possible lava inundation of Beach Road near four corners."
