Medicare punishes 11 KC-area hospitals for infections, readmissions


Eleven Kansas City-area hospitals will be paid less by Medicare this year because of high rates of infections, patient injuries and readmissions, according to a Kaiser Health News analysis.

The penalties result from failure to prevent infections, blood clots, cases of sepsis, bedsores, hip fractures and other complications, including readmissions.
