Minnesota Zoo readies launch of $39 million Treetop Trail


A decade after the Minnesota Zoo mothballed its monorail line, its replacement is nearly ready: An elevated pedestrian walkway called the Treetop Trail that's set to open this summer.

The Pioneer Press has a preview of the $39 million, 1.25-mile Treetop Trail, which when it opens July 28 will follow the monorail's old course and let visitors walk through, and 32 feet over, some of the zoo's exhibits.

Funding for the project has come from $11 million in state bonding funds, as well as donations…
