National Instruments bought in $8.2B deal


The deal’s closing caps off what was a competitive courtship by Emerson to acquire NI, a maker of automated testing equipment that engineers use to design products ranging from phones to planes. Emerson pursued NI for nearly a year before the companies agreed to the $60-per-share cash offer in April.
