A score was generated by American City Business Journals’ analysis of eight current American Community Survey indicators from the U.S. Census Bureau. Positive scores were awarded for all performances that were better than the national average within each category; negative scores were given for all performances that were worse. The wealth index for a given ZIP code is the sum of its eight scores.
