New offers, digital potential keep Wendy’s optimistic


Wendy’s promotional strategies are paying off.

The Dublin-based restaurant company Wednesday reported a 7.4% revenue increase to $408.6 million in its first quarter and a system wide sales increase of 3.3% to $2.59 billion. Same-restaurant sales increased 1.3% in North America even as the company said traffic to stores remained down.

“One more visit, one more dollar,” is how CEO Todd Penegor described the in-restaurant approach.
