Newport Beach food tech firm picks up Chef’d assets


After Chef’d abruptly closed the box on its meal-kit business last week, the Los Angeles area company’s assets have been picked up by a food-technology firm with a meal-kit business of its own.

True Food Innovations, a subsidiary of Newport Beach, California-based True Family Enterprises, has acquired Chef’d’s plant, property, equipment, brand and intangible assets from the company’s lender, who was unnamed.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
