Oakland becomes first Bay Area jurisdiction to receive California’s pro-housing designation


Six more California cities are officially ‘pro-housing’ in the eyes of the state.

Oakland, Citrus Heights, Fontana, Roseville, San Diego and West Sacramento have joined Sacramento as the only cities in California to have earned the Newsom Administration’s pro-housing designation, the state department of Housing and Community Development said in a release Dec. 15.

The status will give the cities preference in competition for existing state grants for things like housing and infrastructure.…
