Oregon food processor to cut close to 500 jobs


Farmer-owned cooperative Norpac Foods will cut nearly 500 jobs in Marion County when it closes a food-processing plant in Stayton, Ore., in October.

The company filed noticed Aug. 30 with the state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification program that it would lay off 485 workers starting Oct. 31 with the closing of the processing plant.
