Sacramento restaurants can start planning to make their outdoor dining permanent.

The Sacramento City Council on Tuesday approved a permanent program permitting outdoor dining on sidewalks, parking strips, parking spots and other city property.

The city first created emergency rules allowing restaurants to expand their dining areas outside at the beginning of the pandemic, when restaurants were forced to close indoor dining.
