Poe Homes could be heading toward redevelopment, privatization


Planning for a redevelopment of the 298-unit Poe Homes could begin later this year as changes to the Poppleton community continue to roll on.

The 78-year-old public housing project in West Baltimore this week received a $1.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds will be used to plan the future of the overhaul of the community, a spokeswoman for the Housing Authority of Baltimore City said Thursday.
