Raleigh’s $230M gamble on convention center expansion is no sure bet


The Raleigh Convention Center is already guzzling millions in tax dollars and operating at a loss, but officials say doubling the size of the 500,000-square-foot space, at a cost of $230 million, is necessary even as some industry insiders say the outlook is bleak.
