Hawaii bakeries are partnering with The Salvation Army on National Donut Day to mark 101 years since the nonprofit’s Donut Lassies program first began serving donuts to soldiers on the front lines of WWI in France in 1917.
Regal Bakery’s two Oahu locations, Daylight Donuts’ Lihue location, and Krispy Kreme’s Kahului location will give one free donut to customers on June 1, and a percentage of sales of additional donuts will go to The Salvation Army.
