REVIEW: Bandoneon Hector Del Curto opens Chamber Orchestra’s Summermusik with wizardry, flair, Piazzolla


Hector Del Curto, a virtuoso of the bandoneon, soared through the quick rhythms and sensuous melodies of Astor Piazzolla’s “Aconcagua” Concerto for Bandoneon as if they were second nature. It was a treat to hear Piazzolla’s masterpiece in the hands of Del Curto, a native of Buenos Aires who is a fourth-generation performer of the unique Argentine instrument.
