REVIEW: Conrad Tao steps in to deliver thrilling Rachmaninoff Third


Few people can fill in on short notice to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Luckily for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Conrad Tao was available.

On Saturday, Tao stepped in on about a week’s notice for Khatia Buniatishvili, who was to have performed the blockbuster concerto, after the orchestra announced she was forced to withdraw. Ironically, Tao’s last appearance with the CSO was over Thanksgiving weekend in 2021.
