SA Zoo expanding medical space in advance of master plan makeover


The San Antonio Zoo is expanding its Animal Health Center.

The facility makeover includes new pharmacy, laboratory and surgical suite space. The center is also adding new medical equipment, which will allow the zoo’s medical team to provide enhance animal care.

The center was originally constructed in 1971. It had one main treatment room that was used for exams, radiology, pharmacy and surgery. Zoo officials said it was too small to handle increasing demand for animal care.
