Silicon Valley Bank Financial files for bankruptcy as it moves to sell non-bank units


SVB Financial Group filed for bankruptcy protection on Friday, one week after government regulators seized its bank.

The California parent company of failed Silicon Valley Bank said in a press release that the filing doesn't include the funds of its Boston-based investment bank SVB Securities, its venture unit called SVB Capital nor its general partner entities.
