Soulard diner damaged by fire


Two St. Louis women have had a major setback after recently launching their business. Just months after taking over Billie’s Diner near Soulard, a fire destroyed much of what is inside Saturday.

“Being a small business, we only have liability (insurance), and it doesn’t cover the furniture, tables, anything that’s not attached to the building,” said co-owners, Kelly Kaighin and Lauren Zych.

The two bought Billie’s Diner in March.
