State Farm will shut down Mendota Heights office


State Farm Insurance will lay off 88 employees in Mendota Heights, virtually its entire workforce there, as it shutters the office as part of a wave of nationwide cutbacks.

The Bloominton, Ill.-based insurer disclosed the pending layoffs at its State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. operations to state regulators last week, the Star Tribune reports.
