State grants $14M to help 70 projects with infrastructure

A new state grant program has awarded $14.3 million to 70 infrastructure projects, including 31 in the Chicago area.

Local projects received $6.4 million, including 16 that received $200,000 or more, from the Human Services Capital Investment Grant Program. Grants range between $50,000 to $250,000 and are funded by the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan.

The Illinois Department of Human Services and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity partnered in November to launch the program.
