State Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith files bill to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida


Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D-Orlando) filed the first bill of the 2019 Florida legislative session, which runs March 5-May 5, to legalize recreational marijuana.

Smith filed HB117 along with co-sponsor Miami Beach Rep. Michael Grieco, also a Democrat. The proposed law would let only those age 21 and older to purchase the drug, and users could buy only 2.5 ounces at a time.
