Twin Cities Largest Engineering Firms

Engineering billings must be related to engineering services. Firms headquartered in the Twin Cities reported engineering billings for all operations. Firms headquartered elsewhere reported engineering billings for metro-area operations only. Firms based outside the Twin Cities include No. 2 Terracon, Olathe, Kan.; No. 9 Stantec, Edmonton, Alberta; No. 10 Kimley-Horn, Raleigh, N.C.; No. 13 Burns & McDonnell, Kansas City, Mo.; No. 14 HDR, Omaha, Neb; and No. 15 Ulteig, Fargo, N.D. The Twin Cities 24-county metro area includes Anoka, Benton, Blue Earth, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Freeborn, Goodhue, Hennepin, Isanti, Le Sueur, Mower, Nicollet, Olmsted, Ramsey, Rice, Scott, Sherburne, Stearns, Steele, Washington and Wright in Minnesota, and Pierce and St. Croix in Wisconsin. No. 11 HGA incorrectly reported its billings last year, so its prior rank is not included. AECOM, ranked No. 18 on last year’s list, did not respond to requests for updated information for this year’s list. Information on The List was supplied by company representatives and could not be independently verified by the Business Journal.
