USDA: California almond crop expected to hit new record


California’s almond crop is estimated to be nearly 2.5 billion pounds, another new record for the industry, which has been increasing production for two decades.

U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service on Thursday released its Objective Report, the industry’s official crop estimate.

With production estimates of 2.45 billion pounds, the 2018 crop is estimated to be nearly 8 percent higher than last year's 2.27 billion pounds of production.
