USF Sarasota-Manatee moves forward on first dorm, expects 2024 opening


University of South Florida’s Sarasota-Manatee campus has approved a $39 million dorm that could help the campus shed its commuter school image.

The Florida Board of Governors approved the 100,000-square-foot housing and student center on Wednesday. The building will be the campus’ first dorm and is expected to open in fall 2024. USF officials said it was unknown if a design and construction firm have been chosen for the project.
