Vantage Bank merges with South Texas competitor

Two South Texas banks are expected to merge operations by the end of this year, pending regulatory approval.

San Antonio-based Vantage Bank Texas will become a much larger institution after it acquires McAllen-based Inter National Bank. The combined entity would hold $1.9 billion in total assets, if approved. Vantage Bank, though smaller with $550 million in total assets as of March 31, is planned to be the surviving brand.
