Walgreens unit VillageMD buys buys urgent-care centers for $9 billion


A unit of Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. is buying Summit Health–CityMD for $8.9 billion.

Village Practice Management, a unit of the Deerfield, Illinois, drugstore giant (Nasdaq: WBA) that does business as VillageMD, is buying Summit Health, which has more than 370 urgent-care centers in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Central Oregon.
