What’s keeping redevelopment of the old Statesman HQ from moving forward?


Arguably the biggest real estate project on the table in Austin's urban core, this project would turn the old Austin-American Statesman building into six towers with millions of square feet of office, residential, hotel and retail space. There would also be new public parkland right along Lady Bird Lake. But a debate over the number of affordable housing units in the project is holding up the process.
