Why Kachka chose to embrace its popularity and expand its brand (Photos)

The most critically claimed Russian restaurant in Portland — and likely nationwide — reopened on Monday in a new, much larger location.

Kachka, which opened four years ago along Grand Avenue in Northeast Portland, is now operating from its own standalone structure in the Goat Blocks at 960 S.E. 11th Ave.

Meanwhile, co-owners Bonnie and Israel Morales turned the original location into Kachinka, a smaller-scale version of Kachka designed with the restaurant's happy hour crowd in mind.
