Why restaurateur Kim Bartmann believes so strongly in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood


Kim Bartmann is preparing to open her second restaurant in Uptown, a Minneapolis neighborhood that she knows well.

It's where Bartmann "grew up" in restaurants as a young adult, working as a line cook and a kitchen manager, and later where she launched her career as a restaurateur with her first local haunt, Café Wyrd, in 1991. Her forthcoming Uptown restaurant, an unnamed Italian eatery, sit directly across the street from Barbette, which replaced Café Wyrd in 2001.
