Wichita’s KU Med School receives significant donation


An Emporia couple has committed $1 million to the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita for student scholarships and the school's internal medicine program.

Scott Smiley is a KUSM-Wichita alumnus who grew up in Newton and is now a physician practicing in Newton. Julie Smiley is an Emporia veterinarian originally from Pennsylvania. They met as undergraduates at Kansas State University.
