A 1,000-acre Thomasville-area plantation is being offered for sale via sealed-bid auction with offers due next month.

Conifer, which is surrounded by historic Thomas County plantations, has been owned by the Sedgwick family since 1978. It's about 10 minutes from downtown Thomasville, and four hours by car from Atlanta, according to the broker. Most people travel by plane to Tallahassee, Fla., Valdosta, Ga., or Thomasville.
