23andMe adds diabetes risk to health reports


Genetic testing company 23andMe has added a report that predicts clients’ predisposition to type 2 diabetes to its health risk assessments.

The diabetes report was developed and validated using 23andMe research data from more than 2.5 million customers who opted in to the research, the company said.

Using the data, 23andMe scientists developed a scoring system that uses more than 1,000 genetic variants to calculate a customer’s likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes.
