A startup deposited a new round of venture capital. Three days later, its bank collapsed.


Samantha Citro Alexander and the rest of the team at Bitewell celebrated a huge milestone on March 6: the closing of the Denver startup's seed venture round.

After months of work to raise the funding, Citro Alexander rested well that Monday knowing the money was finally secured in Bitewell's account at Silicon Valley Bank.

"We were flying high. We had been fundraising, and we closed the round and it was funded," Citro Alexander told the Denver Business Journal. "We were thinking, 'We did it.'"…
