Time may be running out for a more than 100-year-old golf course in North Carolina.

Lakeway’s Zoning and Planning Commission voted unanimously Aug. 2 to recommend rezoning nearly 34 acres for what's called the Balcones Point planned unit development. It could bring dozens of homes and a small amount of retail space to the wealthy enclave in western Travis County.

The mayor once campaigned to abolish the agency, but she is now working to create a new version of the BPDA aligned with her vision for planning and development. Much of that vision remains a work in progress.
