University of Louisville leaders knew from the outset that their bid to take over KentuckyOne Health Inc.'s Louisville assets was a toss-up.
Neeli Bendapudi, U of L's president, said as much Thursday morning during a news conference. On Wednesday evening, the school announced that it stopped negotiations with KentuckyOne and its parent organization, Catholic Health Initiatives, or CHI, to take over its Louisville facilities, including Jewish Hospital.
