Big tweaks to parking-minimums to drive bill forward in City Council


A measure that would set higher mandatory parking minimums for housing developers has advanced in City Council in dramatically scaled-back form.

As revised Wednesday in the council’s Rules Committee, the legislation leaves intact little of the original text of Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell’s unpopular bill. Instead, it calls for smaller increases in the parking minimums that are far more likely to be signed into law than those contained in the measure’s more radical predecessors.
