Valley chef named James Beard Award finalist
An East Valley chef has advanced as a finalist for the 2019 James Beard Awards.
Charleen Badman of FnB in Scottsdale was the lone Arizona semifinalist to make the cut as a finalist in the Best Chef: Southwest category. The category encompasses Arizona, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Utah. Badman is one of five finalists in the category, with the four other nominees hailing from Texas.

First look: Big Roseville health club aims to open in late spring
There will be cardio equipment and group fitness classes. But when a big new athletic club opens soon in Roseville, you'll also find beer, wine and high-end spa amenities.
San Rafael-based VillaSport Athletic Club and Spa could open in late spring at 291 Conference Center Drive. The 130,000-square-foot property is near the Westfield Galleria at Roseville.

Starbucks plans Waukesha cafe at site of former Weissgerber’s Gasthaus
Starbucks plans to add another café to its local footprint, this time in Waukesha.
The Seattle-based café chain is developing a location at Grandview Boulevard and Silvernail Road. The location will include a drive-through, a company spokesperson said.
Starbucks leased 2,100 square feet for the new café, according to Mid-America Real Estate. Tony Colvin and Dan Cohen represented Starbucks in the transaction.

Food delivery service expands in Central Florida, plans to add 100 jobs
A Minneapolis-based online food delivery service soon will add more jobs to Central Florida as it expands in the area.
BiteSquad.com will start delivery services in New Smyrna Beach and Edgewater this week after experiencing growth in Volusia County. The service, which provides food delivery with fees starting at $2.99, launched in Volusia in May 2018, and already provides service to metro Orlando.
