Homebuilders – Custom builders
The 2022 Austin Business Journal list of custom homebuilders highlights local builders creating unique residences according for their clients. Builders will either have select lots to choose from or will build on property owned by the client. Prices often exceed the million dollar mark. The listmakers this year built 417 custom homes during 2021 for combined sales of $527 million. Last year, listmakers reported building 430 homes in 2020 with combined sales of $485 million. The ABJ gathers data from surveys sent to company representatives. Only builders that responded to requests for information are included. See also the related list of volume homebuilders.
Homebuilders – Volume builder
The 2022 Austin Business Journal list of volume homebuilders is home to builders working in the Austin area. This includes Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, Caldwell and Burnet counties. These builders typically offer already built spec homes in master-planned neighborhoods around Central Texas, along with an assortment of floor plans and prices for new construction. The ABJ gathers data from surveys sent to company representatives. Only builders that responded to requests for information are included. In addition to the ABJ list, housing market advisory firm Zonda regularly gathers home starts of local builders. Between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022 Zonda counted a total of 26,980 new homes starts in the Austin area. This is up from 24,592 starts for the same timeframe the year before.
