Heading into Super Bowl 50, the differences between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers have been picked over to death.

But what about the two cities the teams represent?

Denver and Charlotte are different in many ways, from their geography to their local cuisine. And the Broncos have been to the NFL’s big dance seven times before, while this is just the second trip for Charlotte.

So to celebrate the Super Bowl, we offer a side-by-side look at the Mile High City and the Queen City and what makes them special.

I’ve lived in Denver for 23 years and know the city pretty well. But although I have relatives in Charlotte and the Hardens come from the eastern part of North Carolina, and I’ve been there a few times on business, I don’t know the town very well.

So Jenna Martin, digital producer at the Charlotte Business Journal, and I partnered up on this project, with Jenna and her colleagues providing the Charlotte side of things.
