One Beale asking for more public dollars
Set to start construction soon on One Beale, the project’s developers are seeking another round of public assistance.
Carlisle Corp. is asking for a $990,000 grant from the Downtown Memphis Commission (DMC). The grant would come on top of assistance for a parking garage and the 20-year tax break a DMC board gave the project in May.
The grant is necessary, according to a memo from the DMC’s staff, because of the recent “significant rise in construction costs.”
